Italy Recap pt. 1 – Rome

So these last two months have been a whirlwind of events! My family went to Italy, Christmas time came and went, we had family visiting from Florida over the holidays, we went on a quick (but not really quick because it took like 10 hours one way) road trip to San Francisco, and I got engaged to my wonderful boyfriend of over 6 years, Micah!! I told you it has been extremely eventful!

But I kinda left you guys on a cliffhanger by sharing about how I was leaving for our family Italy trip and not saying anything after that, so I wanted to share photos from our trip! Plus being back at work really makes me long for a new adventure, so looking at these photos make me happy.

The first leg was in Rome, my dream vacation spot since I was a little girl watching the Lizzie McGuire Movie for the first time. The city and the culture was a little different than what I expected, but it still felt like an absolute dream being there. Other than the Trevi Fountain and having my Lizzie moment there, one of my favorite spots was the Colosseum. It is massive!! I could not stop taking photos of it, I was just so amazed. Another favorite of mine was the Sistine Chapel in the Vatican Museum. It was like a spur of the moment plan by my parents to go see it and I’m sooo thankful we did. I totally remember learning about the Sistine Chapel and Michelangelo when I was in 1st grade and how he laid down while painting the ceiling for years. We did a really cool activity where we all laid down on the floor and drew on a paper under our desks, trying to be like him. It’s always a really special moment when you get to see and experience something in person that you learned about years ago. It was absolutely breathtaking being at the Sistine Chapel. Art and history just comes to life for me when I see places like that. Honestly, I could stand there for hours in awe.

ALSO GELATO EVERYDAY WAS AMAZING!

Enjoy looking through my photos and hopefully you can get the essence of the gorgeous city and of our untamed excitement. Photos are shot on my Canon 5D Mark III, and some on an iPhone 6S Plus on the third day.
